TrafficMate is a stand-alone complete wired and wireless guest internet access and monitoring solution with built-in MotelMate integration.
The TrafficMate System
TrafficMate is a non revenue split internet solution that has the ability to charge guests for internet over and above the free allowance granted by the motel.
TrafficMate can be branded with your logo to offer a consistent presentation and level of service to guests throughout the group. The login screen can be further customised with a 'terms of use' paragraph displayed to show specific details of the property. This can explain the access policy, link to other web sites or just say "Hi".
The system also will allow free access to a number of user specified web sites so a motel can offer access to passing traffic to let them view the motel web site or the Host web site. This is to allow a prospect to browse of book further stays without hindrance.
Administration & Monitoring
TrafficMate's simple yet powerful web interface allows you to allocate exactly how much internet each user receives, and control what is charged through its configurable multi-set prepay vouchers and on-account tariffs system. The software shows live monitoring letting you know which accounts have expired, which ones are in use as well as amounts of data downloaded so you can monitor activity over the lifetime of the account.
Guest Access
When your guests attempt to browse the internet on TrafficMate's network, they are greeted by a page (customised to your brand), requesting their unique access code, along with your Terms and Conditions. Once successfully activated, their internet plan details and instructions on how to monitor their usage is displayed. TrafficMate separates your guests from your network, protecting your computers and network devices.
Many existing systems only offer the ability to give free internet if the operator actually pays the WiFi provider for a service they themselves are providing and paying for. That is, the motel provides the internet feed and still has to pay someone else to give that service away for free.
Piracy Protection Technology
Several countries have now passed "digital copyright laws" that make it the responsibility of the owner of an internet connections to ensure that users on that network do not download copyright materials.
Failure to do so leaves the provider, you, to take on any legal penalties for illegal downloads. In New Zealand this can be up to $15,000.
TrafficMate prevents users from going to web sites where they may be tracked by copyright avenging legal firms as well as blocking access to 'torrent trackers' which co-ordinate the download of illegally shared files.
The guest will see a simple page informing them that the page they want has been blocked, it does not affect any other normal web sites. Activating piracy protection is as simple as ticking the box.
Implementation
TrafficMate takes the form of a single network router providing wireless internet or wired to each room. It is often installed with a supplementary WiFi base station(s)
The system would easily supplant any existing revenue split WiFi system as usually the WiFi provider removes their equipment but the motelier would have paid for installation ie wiring and so the equipment is installed.
